Confidentiality Policy

II PERSONAL INFORMATION DISCLOSED

1. Any personal information disclosed in conversation or correspondence with a member of the Church Leadership Team [LT] or Activity Leader within the church, will be treated confidentially, except that:

a. Such information may be shared within the Activity Leadership and Church LT if:

i. required to foster the pastoral or social care of the individual;

ii. required to meet the supervision needs of the staff/volunteer;

b. Such information may be shared in confidence with another third party if:

i. deemed to be necessary for the safety or well-being of the individual;

ii. required under our Child Protection Policy or other legislation;

iii. required by a court of law.

iv. Required to meet the supervision needs of the staff/volunteer; this will usually be within an established mentoring relationship approved by the Church Leadership Team.

2. There will be a general presumption of consent to disclose information in this way.

3. In circumstances where an individual makes clear that they wish information to be held in strict confidence by a single LT member or volunteer, the general presumption of consent should be made explicit immediately, such that the individual clearly understands the basis for disclosure and must decide whether or not to continue to disclose information.

4. The Pastor has overall responsibility for the execution of this policy.
