And in everything we do Dear Lord, help us to follow you. Lord Jesus meet with us in a new and fresh way today we pray, as we set aside this time for you. Be with us as we once again gather together in spirit but apart physically. Amen

As we begin, we acknowledge your glory and majesty Lord Jesus, we worship you with our whole heart, mind, soul and spirit.

Song Be still for the presence of the Lord ~ sung by Celeste

Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here.
Come bow before Him now with reverence and fear.
In Him no sin is found. We stand on holy ground.
Be still for the presence of the Lord the Holy One is here.
Be still for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
He burns with holy fire, with splendour He is crowned.
How awesome is the sight, our radiant King of light.
Be still for the glory of the Lord is shining all around
Be still for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.
He comes to cleanse and heal, to minister His grace.
No work too hard for Him, in faith receive from Him;
Be still for the power of the Lord Is moving in this place.

Some quotes and thoughts on peace
The Hebrew word “Shalom” means “Peace”. It also has a meaning of wholeness and wellbeing. For us to have peace in our lives we must understand where it comes from.
Peace. Every human longs for it. Not every human finds it. “I have had many things in my hands, and I have lost them all. But whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”
(Martin Luther)
The peace you have with God is something that no man can take from you. Even as a soldier walks into battle knowing that he will die, he can still carry the peace of God with him.
Helen Keller was born blind and deaf. She was brought to a minister to explain the plan of salvation to her. In the simplest of terms the minister told the girl about Jesus. As she heard the Gospel, her face lit up and she spelled out in the hand of the preacher, “I knew all the time there must be one like that, but I didn’t know His name.”
It is not enough to simply believe in Jesus. We must accept what he has done in order to receive peace.

Our next song describes the Peace of our Lord as a flowing river

Song Peace like a river

Peace like a river,
love like a mountain
The wind of your Spirit
Is blowing everywhere
Joy like a fountain
Healing spring of life
Come, Holy Spirit
Let Your fire fall

Reading Philippians 4:1-9

Living in Harmony with One Another
My dear and precious friends, whom I deeply love, you have truly become my glorious joy and crown of reward. Now arise in the fullness of your union with our Lord. And I plead with Euodia and Syntyche to settle their
disagreement and be restored with one mind in our Lord. I would like my dear friend and burden-bearer to help resolve this issue, for both women have diligently laboured with me for the prize and helped in spreading the revelation of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers. All of their names are written in the Book of Life. Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One! Let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near. Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honourable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.

Song ‘Make Me a Channel of Your Peace’ ~ sung by Russell Watson and Aled Jones

Make me a channel of Your peace
Where there is hatred, let me bring Your love
Where there is injury, Your pardon Lord
And where there’s doubt, true faith in You
Oh Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul
Make me a channel of Your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy
Make me a channel of Your peace
It is pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life

Reflection on Peace
Henry Blackaby in his book ‘Experiencing God’, writes, “As you no doubt have discovered, becoming a Christian does not make your problems go away. But it does give you an advocate to whom you can take every concern.” “Casting our cares” is a choice we make. It means consciously
handing over our anxiety to Him and allowing Him to carry the weight of our problems. Very often, this is the most difficult part of trusting God. He wants us to learn to trust His heart even when we cannot trace His steps.
God sees us as his frail children, burdened with a load that is more than we can carry. He stands prepared to take our load and to carry it for us. Will you let Him? When we do this, he makes a promise to us. Philippians 4:7
(above) says “then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus
Christ. “Living a life with the peace of God is a choice. Nothing can rob
us of our peace because it does not come from our circumstances, the people around us, or this world. It comes from God alone.
We can have this peace because of the assurance that God has our
lives under control. And He is continuously working (though
mysteriously) to accomplish His purpose in us.
If He is the God of peace, it means where God is, there is peace.
How God will help us out with our particular problems, we do not
know, but no matter what the outcome, one thing is definite, he will
give us His peace.
This does not mean we will get what we want. It means we can
live with it because we have got something better, satisfaction.
The promise is there and available.
God knows our unfulfilled desires, our broken dreams, our
disappointments and our defeats. He can bring about peace in our
lives in the midst of these challenges and He longs to do that for us
today.
We can pray for God to give us a new perspective on our difficult circumstances. We can ask for His help, by praying, to strengthen our trust in Him and our reliance upon His power despite the difficulty we are facing. He will enable us to find that peace. He longs for us to accept it.
If you have never trusted Christ as your Saviour and yet your heart longs to cry out for help, you can do so today. Call on Him by prayer to forgive your sins. Believe that He died for you and make Him your Lord and Saviour. You will receive the forgiveness of sins and a new life and a peace only he can give.

The next song tells us of the peace, joy, faith, hope and love we can receive

Song Peace Is Flowing Like a River ~ sung by Catholic Treasures

Peace is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me;
Flowing out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.
Joy is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me;
Flowing out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.
Faith is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me;
Flowing out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.
Hope is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me;
Flowing out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.
Love is flowing like a river,
Flowing out through you and me;
Flowing out into the desert,
Setting all the captives free.

I don’t know if you have a vision of peace and what it might look or feel like. This poem to me is the epitome of it.

Reading from ‘Watching for the Kingfisher’ by Ann Lewin
Images of stillness
The lake,
No ripple disturbing the
surface.
The heron, motionless,
Contemplating.
Waterlilies, kingcups,
Spreading their
Beauty.
No breath of air stirring
Trees around the water.
Reflections.
Beneath, strong current.
Within strong urges.
Around, strong competition.
No stillness without tension.

Prayers
Lord we pray for our world today, We pray for the political tensions around our world… our leaders… We pray for peace and unity and where there is hatred may your peace and light permeate into the hearts of those who seek to undermine what is good in this world. We pray for all those who have been affected by the Covid virus and the financial, spiritual, emotional and physical implications of this. We bring them before you now … We pray for peace in our own communities around Sandhurst and in our community here at SBC. May you give us the grace to accept each other and to love each other as you love us, unconditionally. Lord work on us all through your Holy Spirit. Plant in us your Peace and Hope. We stand amid the wreckage of life, a world that is broken, communities in dispute and lives in despair.
But Lord we hold on to the vision that you will wipe away every tear
from our eyes. Give us the peace of your spirit Lord Jesus. We give you our wearisome load Lord Jesus, we leave it with you now. Amen

Song The deep, deep love of Jesus

O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of your love;
Leading onward, leading homeward
To your glorious rest above.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
Spread His praise from shore to shore
How He loves us, ever loves us,
Changes never, nevermore
How He watches o’er His loved ones
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth
Watches o’er them from the throne
O, the deep, deep love of Jesus
Love of every love the best.
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.
O, the deep, deep love of Jesus!
‘Tis heaven of heavens to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to Thee

Blessing
As you go out into this day, may you take the peace of our Lord and Saviour
with you deep within your soul. May you rest assured that he is walking with you, uplifting you, willing you on and will never leave your side.
Bless you. Amen
